Adopting a Cat or Dog in Oakville...

We have a wonderful, white pussy cat named Annie the Terminator. She’s perfect. Really. She’s affectionate, but not overly so. She’s clean, and doesn’t shed too much. She has her claws but never uses them on us. We love her.

Especially my three-year-old daughter. Poor Annie. Hugs, kisses, squeezes, my daughter loves her to pieces. And Annie can hear her coming.

Annie hangs out in my room on my bed, in my closet, on my dresser or on top of the bookshelf. She feels safe there. But the second she hears those telltale 33-lb. steps, she knows what’s coming for her.

And she bolts. 

We adopted Annie from PetSmart a couple of years ago. They have a program of adoption with local pet rescue operations. The Oakville location adopts out cats from Abandoned Cat Rescue.

The boys had wanted a rodent, my husband and I didn’t. So we settled on a cat.

It was a great decision. Cats are sweet, easy, affectionate but not overly so, and she’s been a great addition to our family.
